Jayne Taylor
Starting out as a nurse and then a health visitor, Jayne moved into nurse education in 1987. After working as a lecturer and senior lecturer she became Head of Nursing and Midwifery in Suffolk in 1994 and Dean of Health in 2000.
During her time in education she was an active researcher and has published many books mainly in the fields of child health and research. She is a qualified teacher, has a PhD, an MBA and is PRINCE2 trained. She is working towards gaining accreditation as a ‘coach’.
She decided to return to her NHS roots in 2003 and went to work in Hertsmere PCT – initially to gain experience in Clinical Governance. She then became Director of Quality and Learning for Hertsmere and St Albans and Harpenden PCTs and then Assistant Director of Clinical Governance (Provider Services) for the Hertfordshire PCTs. Jayne left the PCTs in April 2008 to take up post as Director of Organisational Development and Learning at the NHS Centre for Involvement based at Warwick University which closed in August 2009.
During this time she led a programme of organisational development projects across 35 NHS sites and managed the delivery of ten guides to involvement, including a guide to Patient and Public Involvement in Urgent Care. She now works part-time as the Associate Head of Leadership Development for West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, where she leads a number of in-house programmes which are designed to support workforce development within the Trust. Jayne is also the Director of Performance Management for the Hertsmere Commissioning Consortia and works as an independent consultant.
Jayne maintains a passionate interest in patient and public involvement. She is a public champion for a local out-of-hours provider and supports the patient and public involvement group which is actively working with Hertsmere Commissioning.
